URGENT: Nearly 60,000 Tower Air Fryers Recalled in Ireland Over Fire Risk

Irish consumers are being urged to immediately stop using nearly 60,000 Tower air fryers due to a dangerous manufacturing defect that could cause the appliances to overheat and potentially catch fire.

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) issued an urgent safety warning on Thursday following a company recall of five specific Tower air fryer models sold across the Republic of Ireland between 2020 and 2024.

Immediate Safety Risk

The CCPC warned that the manufacturing defect poses a serious threat of fires, injury, or even death. While no incidents have been reported in Ireland to date, there have been confirmed reports in the UK of these products catching fire.

“This recall covers five Tower air fryer models with a dangerous manufacturing defect that could cause the models to overheat,” said Grainne Griffin, director of communications at the CCPC. “Almost 60,000 affected units have been sold in Ireland so it’s vital that consumers who have a Tower air fryer check their model. If their model is affected, it is not safe to use.”

Affected Models

The following Tower air fryer models are subject to the recall:

  • T17023 Tower 2.2Ltr Manual Air Fryer
  • T17061BLK Tower 4Ltr Manual Air Fryer
  • T17067 Tower 4Ltr Digital Air Fryer
  • T17087 Tower 2Ltr Compact Manual Air Fryer
  • T17129L Vortx 8L Dual Basket Air Fryer

Where Were They Sold?

The affected air fryers were sold through major retailers across Ireland, including:

  • Argos
  • Tesco Ireland
  • DID
  • Dealz
  • Lidl
  • Amazon
  • Tower Housewares website

What You Should Do

If you own a Tower air fryer:

  1. Stop using it immediately and unplug the device
  2. Check the model number on the appliance rating label underneath the unit – the model number will begin with the letter “T”
  3. Contact Tower Housewares if your model is affected:
    • Visit their website
    • Email: towerproduct@customersvc.co.uk

Safety Reminder

The CCPC also reminded consumers to always follow manufacturer health and safety instructions when operating any electrical appliances.
